The Austrian Jungschar is the largest youth organization in Austria and South Tyrol. Among other things, the organization helps developing countries with various campaigns and is also strongly represented in the field of educational work. One of the best-known and largest campaigns is the Epiphany Campaign. Every year, groups of young people march from house to house as Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, singing, reciting short sayings and collecting donations for a good cause. The tradition of carol singing has been around since the Middle Ages (!), and the Catholic Children's Movement supports more than 500 projects in poverty-stricken regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America every year with the Epiphany Campaign. For the Epiphany Campaign 2020, the Corona pandemic interfered a bit - and that's where LIMESODA's commitment came into play.
So what to do? In the "digital age" the Austrian Jungschar has thought of something: Collect donations for the Epiphany Campaign online! Donating online was already possible on the organization's website. But now it was time to become present on the web. And this is exactly where we from LIMESODA should start. Our mission was to make the online fundraising campaign of the carol singers known in such a way that, despite the situation, enough donations would be collected and to bring the carol singers to the web.
Cross-team work on our side was in demand - starting with workshops, through social media, YouTube and Google Ads, it was all there. The "Virtual carol singers visit" campaign brought the three holy kings with personal greetings into the living rooms of Austrians. Via social media, we gained attention for the carol singers with eye-catching postings. Search engine marketing including display campaigns (SEA) was also used to generate awareness for the fundraising campaign. The entire tools package of the Google marketing platform naturally served as support for this. We were very pleased to be able to support the Catholic Children's Charity as a non-profit organization with the help of Google Grants.
The search and display ads created awareness for the Epiphany Campaign among Austrians in every corner from Austria to South Tyrol. In the period from December to the end of February, the campaigns for the virtual visit and the fundraising campaign ran. The project thus had a successful run and was able to motivate more than 7,000 donors. The internal collaboration of LIMESODA's teams of search engine experts, social media specialists and creatives made it an exciting project. We proudly look back on a successful project that has brought even more meaning to our work in the "Age of Corona".
