In this business case, our client was a company that provides space management capabilities for end customers. Its offering includes dynamic logistics operations, trackable traceability functions, intelligent automation and collaborative ecosystems.

The product is designed as a spatial warehouse management app module for order picking. Its main function is to show warehouse pickers the optimal routes to each item using Zebra handheld devices.

This software module is designed to enable a move towards smart warehouses that make operations more efficient and sustainable. To create such an intelligent warehouse with this solution, you need the following:

• View a digital twin of a warehouse for spatial visualization; 
• Apply proprietary routing algorithms taking into account the insights from the warehouse's digital twin.

The module can be seamlessly integrated into any warehouse management app or ERP. It is a solution that is supported by an accompanying web portal. Challenge

The customer's existing software solution had a problematic architecture and was not scalable. Therefore, the company wanted a new, flexible and highly functional tool.

We were given the task of working closely with the client's engineers to develop a new mobile inventory management app for the pickers that included all the necessary functions.

In addition, a web-based application was requested to monitor the warehouse processes and generate extensive reports with detailed statistics. These reports provide warehouse managers and executives with dashboards, charts, 3D map visualizations, slot optimization capabilities, ROI analysis and KPIs.

To realize their business goals, the client needed a geospatial order picking Android app for handheld devices, combined with a web app that provides picking statistics. With such features, end users should be able to view a warehouse map, identify the best storage locations for items and make warehouse optimization decisions.

Challenge

The idea was to develop the first version of MVP to test it with about 10 drivers. The biggest challenge was to integrate the app into the ecosystem of the existing CRM and the website. We had to keep a balance between implementing a new product and not forgetting that it had to fit the entire system.

Solution

The mobile application was developed to manage and optimize the delivery process. Using the FetchApp drivers can easily see the available orders, assign themself to a particular order and see the list of specific items that should be delivered.
